A number of people were injured after a campaign sound vehicle that was with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i  procession was involved in a road accident near State Lodge in Nyanchwa, Kisii County, on Friday.
According to preliminary reports, the vehicle is suspected to have suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control before crashing into other vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians.
Among those injured were the three occupants of the campaign sound vehicle. All the injured were taken to hospitals across Kisii County for treatment.
One patient was admitted to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH), while four others are receiving treatment at Nyanchwa Mission Hospital. The remaining victims were taken to other health facilities within the county.
Initial information indicates that none of the injuries is life-threatening.
