The Linda Mwananchi Movement has unveiled an extensive proposed national leadership structure, naming Nairobi Senator Edwin Watenya Sifuna as its party leader and 2027 presidential candidate as it prepares to strengthen its political presence ahead of the next General Election.

The proposed lineup brings together serving elected leaders, former public officials, political strategists, lawyers and representatives of youth and women’s groups, reflecting the movement’s efforts to establish a broad national political organisation.

Sifuna will be deputised by four officials, including former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo.

The fourth deputy party leader position has been reserved for a representative from the Coast region, with the individual expected to be announced after further consultations.

In the National Executive, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been proposed as National Chairman, while former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo will serve as Vice Chairman.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi has been named Secretary-General, deputised by political strategist Pauline Njoroge.

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has been proposed as National Treasurer, with Abigael Gikonyo, popularly known as Abi Zwena, taking up the Deputy Treasurer position.

The organising department will be headed by Kari Karani, a founding member of The Equitable Party (TEP), with Funyula MP Oundo Mudenyo named Deputy Organising Secretary.

Natembeya to Lead Presidential Campaign

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been assigned a major responsibility in the new structure, taking up the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Head of the Presidential Campaign.

Faith Odhiambo will serve as his deputy in the campaign department, placing her in both the party’s deputy leadership and presidential campaign structures.

The movement has also proposed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale as Secretary for Political Affairs. Khalwale is also expected to pursue the Kakamega gubernatorial seat under The Equitable Party, according to the proposed arrangements.

Wakili Kadide, also identified as Francy Kadide, has been proposed as Secretary for Legal Affairs, reportedly following recommendations from young people associated with the movement.

Women, Youth and Regional Representation

The proposed structure also provides for specialised departments dealing with international relations, diaspora engagement and public policy.

Eunice Juma, a founding member of the movement, has been proposed as Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, while Gilbert Shanga, another founding leader of TEP, has been assigned the Secretary for International Affairs docket.

Wamoka has been proposed as Secretary for Public Policy.

In the movement’s women and youth wings, Caroline Mayunzu, also referred to as Mayuzu, has been proposed as President of the Women League, while Frida Onduso has been named President of the Youth League.

Torome Nalengoyo, a former ODM chairman in Narok County, has been proposed as the Minority Representative to the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Meanwhile, Charity Wambui Waweru, popularly known as GenZ Baddie, has been assigned the position of National Youth Chair in the movement’s structure.

A Broader Political Organisation Ahead of 2027

The proposed leadership arrangement signals an effort by the Linda Mwananchi Movement to move beyond its political mobilisation activities and establish a structured organisation with defined administrative, campaign and policy responsibilities.

The inclusion of serving senators and MPs, former governors, political strategists and youth representatives suggests an attempt to bring together different political constituencies under one political platform.

The appointment of Natembeya to head the presidential campaign also places the Trans Nzoia Governor at the centre of the movement’s preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.

However, the proposed leadership will still need to navigate the process of formalising its political structures and resolving outstanding positions, including the reserved Coast deputy party leader slot.

With Sifuna positioned as its proposed presidential candidate, the movement now faces the challenge of translating its growing political profile into a nationwide organisation capable of competing in the 2027 General Election.
