Gloria Orwoba Defends Matiang’i, Says Opponents Will Be Voted Out

Former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has defended Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Dr. Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i, declaring that leaders opposing his political ambitions will be sent home by voters.

Speaking during the funeral of Vincent Mapinduzi, Orwoba condemned what she described as divisive politics, saying poor leadership leads to hardship for ordinary citizens.

“Siasa mbaya, maisha mbaya. Yule ambaye anapigana na Dr. Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i tumesema wanaenda nyumbani. Kupigana na mtoto wetu waende nyumbani,” she said.

Her remarks were made as political leaders gathered to mourn Vincent Mapinduzi, whose death has drawn renewed calls for peaceful political engagement. Orwoba’s comments also underscored growing support for Matiang’i within sections of the Gusii region as he continues consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The funeral attracted several political leaders, with speakers urging residents to reject violence and promote peaceful democratic participation despite differing political views.
