Matiang’i Urges Peace in Keumbu as He Rallies Support for 2027 Presidential Bid

Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Friday engaged residents and traders at Keumbu Market before proceeding to the burial of Vincent Osiemo, who lost his life during the violence that erupted along the Kisii–Keroka Road during the Linda Mwananchi motorcade attack.

Addressing market traders and residents, Matiang’i appealed for peace and urged the people of Keumbu to embrace visitors regardless of their political affiliation. He called on locals to reject violence and ensure that the area remains welcoming to all Kenyans.

The former Interior Cabinet Secretary emphasized that political differences should never result in hostility or attacks on visitors, saying peaceful engagement is essential in strengthening democracy and national unity.

Matiang’i also used the opportunity to speak about his political ambitions, revealing that he is currently focused on building national support ahead of the 2027 General Election. He said his efforts are aimed at bringing together Kenyans from across the country as he prepares to seek the presidency.

After interacting with traders and residents, Matiang’i proceeded to attend the burial of Vincent Osiemo, where leaders and mourners paid tribute to the deceased and renewed calls for peaceful political activities and accountability following the fatal attack.
