Female Police Corporal Dies After Gunshot Incident at Kisii Central Police Station

A female police corporal has died following a gunshot incident at Kisii Central Police Station in an occurrence that has shocked fellow officers and prompted an official investigation.

According to the Kisii Central Sub-County Police Commander (OCPD), the incident happened shortly after midnight while the officer was on duty at the station. She reportedly informed colleagues that she was going to the washroom before making her way to the County Radio Room within the Headquarters Signal Branch.

Police say the officer locked herself inside the room and shot herself on the chest between her breasts. She was pronounced dead following the incident. Investigators have launched inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, including what may have led to the officer’s actions. Authorities have not released further details as investigations continue.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the emotional and psychological pressures faced by some members of the security services, with renewed calls for stronger mental health support systems within the National Police Service.
