Education CS Ogamba Challenges Universities to Empower Youth at Kenyatta University Graduation

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has challenged universities to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and values needed to drive Kenya’s future transformation.

Speaking during Kenyatta University’s 59th Graduation Ceremony, where 2,336 students graduated in various academic disciplines, the CS said institutions of higher learning have a critical role in preparing graduates to become active contributors to national development.

The graduation ceremony was held under the theme, “Youth Engagement for Co-creation of Inclusive Education,” highlighting the importance of involving young people in shaping the country’s education system and future.

Ogamba said the theme reflects the reality that today’s youth should not be viewed merely as recipients of education, but as partners and co-creators of innovative solutions that will shape Kenya’s social and economic progress.

He urged universities and other tertiary institutions to continuously adapt their programmes to meet emerging national and global demands, ensuring graduates are equipped with relevant skills to compete in a rapidly changing world.

The Cabinet Secretary congratulated the 2,336 graduands on their achievement and encouraged them to use the knowledge they have acquired to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the country’s development.
