Over 8,200 Youths Receive KSh155 Million NYOTA Fund Boost in Kisii Launch

Young people from Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties have been encouraged to use the NYOTA grant to start or expand businesses that will create employment and improve their livelihoods.

The call was made during the official launch of the NYOTA programme for the three counties at Kisii National Polytechnic on Friday. The event was officially launched by President William Ruto at Ulinzi Complex Nairobi while  Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, alongside other government leaders and stakeholders attended the one in Kisii.

During the event, several beneficiaries shared testimonies of how the NYOTA grant has helped them establish or grow their businesses, expressing optimism that the funding will enable them to become financially independent and create opportunities for other young people.

Leaders at the launch emphasized that the programme is intended to empower youth through entrepreneurship by providing financial support to viable business ideas. Beneficiaries were encouraged to invest the funds wisely and build sustainable enterprises that can generate income and employment.

The programme brought together 8,234 young beneficiaries from Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties. Each beneficiary received KSh22,000 in business startup capital and KSh3,000 in savings, bringing the total disbursement to KSh155.1 million across the three counties. This investment reflects the Government’s unwavering commitment to empowering young people with the resources they need to build sustainable enterprises and create employment opportunities.
