Principals Conclude National KESSHA Conference After Deliberations on CBE and School Safety

The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, has officially closed the 49th Annual Conference of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) in Mombasa County, bringing to an end a week-long forum that brought together school principals from across the country to discuss the future of education in Kenya.

The conference focused on key issues shaping the education sector, including strengthening school leadership, managing the transition to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system, and enhancing safety and stability in learning institutions. School heads also explored strategies aimed at improving education quality and preparing schools for ongoing curriculum reforms.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Education CS underscored the critical role of principals in ensuring successful implementation of government education policies. He emphasized the need for effective leadership, collaboration, and innovation as schools continue adapting to the Competency-Based Education framework.

The event attracted senior government officials and education stakeholders, among them Principal Secretary for Basic Education John Ololtuaa, Principal Secretary for Gender and Affirmative Action Anne Wang’ombe, Teachers Service Commission Chairperson Dr. Jamleck Muturi, and Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero. Their presence highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting school leadership and strengthening the education sector.

The annual KESSHA conference serves as an important platform for secondary school principals to exchange ideas, address emerging challenges, and develop practical solutions to improve the management of schools across the country. The resolutions reached during the conference are expected to inform future policies and enhance the delivery of quality education nationwide.
