Confrontation At A Funeral In Nyasiongo

A burial ceremony in Nyamira County was temporarily disrupted after a political confrontation between Borabu parliamentary aspirant Morara Kebaso and the area’s Member of Parliament Patrick Osero escalated into a scuffle.

The incident occurred during a funeral attended by local leaders and hundreds of mourners. Tension rose after both politicians were given an opportunity to address the gathering, with each using the platform to defend his political record and criticize the other ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Witnesses said the exchange quickly became heated, forcing members of their security teams and supporters to intervene. A struggle reportedly broke out near the podium as both camps attempted to take control of the proceedings, briefly interrupting the funeral service.

The situation was eventually brought under control by other leaders and organizers, allowing the burial ceremony to continue. No serious injuries were immediately reported, although the incident left mourners calling for politicians to keep partisan politics away from solemn occasions such as funerals.

The confrontation highlights the growing political rivalry in Borabu Constituency, where Morara Kebaso is seeking to unseat the incumbent MP Patrick Osero. With the 2027 elections drawing closer, political temperatures are expected to continue rising as aspirants intensify their campaigns across Nyamira County.
