Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo has commissioned a new Outpatient Section at Nyagacho Dispensary in Mekenene Ward, Borabu Sub-County, as part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen healthcare services at the grassroots.

Governor Nyaribo said the new facility will play a critical role in improving access to healthcare for more than 2,000 residents of Mekenene Ward and surrounding areas.

The dispensary has also introduced laboratory and maternity services, among other essential healthcare services, as the county government works towards upgrading the facility from a Level 2 to a Level 3 hospital.

Nyaribo said the planned upgrade will expand the range of services available to residents and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances in search of medical care.

The Governor further announced that the county is set to employ more than 180 healthcare workers, including nurses and clinical officers, with some expected to be deployed to Nyagacho Dispensary to strengthen staffing and service delivery.

“This is part of my administration’s determination to strengthen the healthcare system up to the grassroots through a progressive and sustainable approach,” Nyaribo said.

He said the investment in healthcare infrastructure, equipment and human resources is aimed at ensuring residents can access quality medical services closer to their homes.

Governor Nyaribo was hosted during the commissioning by Mekenene Ward MCA Hon. Alfayo Ngeresa.

The development is expected to enhance the dispensary’s capacity to provide outpatient, maternity, laboratory and other essential medical services to the growing population in the area.
