Babu Owino Meets Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Pledges Joint Effort to Transform City

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant and Embakasi East MP Hon. Babu Owino on Friday held talks with former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko at Sonko’s Upper Hill office, where the two leaders discussed the challenges facing the capital and possible solutions to improve the lives of Nairobi residents.

During the meeting, the leaders exchanged views on key issues affecting the city, including service delivery, urban development and the welfare of residents. They also explored practical approaches to addressing the challenges facing Kenya’s capital.

Sonko said the discussions were productive and culminated in an agreement to work together toward a shared vision of restoring Nairobi to its former glory.

“Going forward, we have agreed to work together as a team to reclaim Nairobi and restore it to the city its people deserve. The journey to a better Nairobi has begun,” Babu Owino said.

The meeting comes as political activity continues to intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Babu Owino positioning himself as a contender for the Nairobi governorship. The engagement with Sonko, who previously served as the city’s governor, is likely to generate political interest as alliances begin to take shape ahead of the polls.
