DCI Launches Probe Into Ol Kalou By-Election Violence

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into incidents of violence and disruption that were reported during the recently concluded Ol Kalou by-election, vowing to bring all those responsible to justice regardless of their political affiliation or social status.
In a statement, the DCI said detectives have begun examining all available evidence, including forensic exhibits, digital material and witness accounts, as part of efforts to identify and apprehend suspects linked to the disturbances. The investigations will also seek to establish those who allegedly planned, financed, incited or directly participated in the violence, including armed and hooded individuals reported to have disrupted the electoral process.
The agency emphasized that no individual would be shielded from prosecution, maintaining that all suspects will be subjected to the due process of the law without consideration of their position or political connections.

The Directorate further assured the public that it will issue updates as the investigations progress. It added that it is working closely with other agencies within the National Police Service and relevant institutions to prevent electoral violence, safeguard the integrity of elections and ensure all criminal acts committed during the by-election are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.
