Oscar Sudi Hits Out at Gachagua Over Post-Ol Kalou Remarks, Warns Against Divisive Politics

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following DCP’s victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, accusing him of making reckless and inflammatory remarks after the poll.

Speaking during a presser he arranged, Sudi dismissed Gachagua’s celebrations following DCP’s defeat of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), arguing that one by-election should not be used to incite political tensions or portray the government as weakened.

The outspoken Kenya Kwanza lawmaker accused Gachagua of exploiting the Ol Kalou outcome to advance his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election. He maintained that the government remains firmly in control of its development agenda and would not be distracted by political rhetoric.

Sudi further criticized the former deputy president over his recent statements, claiming they were aimed at dividing Kenyans and undermining national unity. He urged political leaders to exercise restraint in their public pronouncements and focus on offering constructive leadership rather than fueling political confrontation.

The MP defended the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying it remains committed to fulfilling its promises despite setbacks in individual electoral contests. He added that elections are part of democracy and that the ruling coalition would continue engaging voters across the country.

The remarks come days after DCP candidate Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru defeated UDA’s Samuel Muchina Nyagah in the Ol Kalou by-election, a result that has intensified political exchanges between allies of President William Ruto and supporters of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
