Kisii County Sets Development Agenda with New Shaping Budget Proposals

The County Government of Kisii has taken a major step in planning for the next financial year after tabling its 2026/2027 Budget Estimates before the County Assembly.

The budget proposals were formally presented on Tuesday by the County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Richard Armstrong Atandi, on behalf of Governor Simba Arati’s administration. The presentation marks the beginning of the legislative review process that will eventually determine how county resources are allocated in the coming financial year.

According to the county government, the proposed budget is designed to strengthen service delivery and support key development priorities across the county. Among the areas earmarked for increased attention are healthcare services, water supply projects, road maintenance, and other essential public services aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.

The budget also Kisii places significant emphasis on development projects intended to stimulate economic growth. Planned investments include the expansion and upgrading of road networks, improvement of market infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at creating a more conducive environment for trade and business activities. The county administration says these projects are expected to enhance economic opportunities and support local livelihoods.

In addition, the estimates outline programmes targeting youth and women empowerment, support for small businesses, and measures aimed at promoting economic inclusion. County officials say the proposals reflect the administration’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda while maintaining prudent use of public resources through strict fiscal discipline and accountability.

The budget documents will now be subjected to scrutiny by the County Assembly and undergo public participation as required by law. Residents and stakeholders will have an opportunity to review the proposals and provide input before the final budget is approved and implemented. County leaders have expressed optimism that the process will result in a budget that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people of Kisii.
