Murkomen Launches Kolowa Sub-County, Reaffirms Crackdown on Insecurity and Goonism

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in the Kerio Valley, saying ongoing investments in infrastructure and public service delivery are helping consolidate security gains in the region.

Speaking during the launch of Kolowa Sub-County in Baringo County, Murkomen said the government is bringing services closer to residents as part of a broader strategy to promote peace and development. He noted that improved access to government services is key to addressing long-standing security challenges in the Kerio Valley belt.

The Cabinet Secretary also oversaw the distribution of 40 desktop computers to 20 police stations across nine sub-counties to enhance police operations and improve service delivery. In addition, 81 motorcycles were handed over to chiefs serving the nine sub-counties to boost their mobility and strengthen administrative response at the grassroots.

Murkomen commended leaders and residents of the Kerio Valley for working closely with the government to restore peace, saying the progress achieved demonstrates the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local communities.

He reiterated that the government remains committed to expanding infrastructure, strengthening community policing and eliminating all forms of insecurity across the country. Murkomen added that just as the government has intensified efforts against banditry, it will also decisively deal with criminal gangs and other security threats to ensure the safety of all Kenyans.
