A 59-year-old man has been arrested by detectives in Githurai after allegedly killing his wife during a domestic dispute in Mwihoko, Kiambu County. The suspect, identified as Charles Maina Karungae Kibue, had reportedly gone into hiding following the incident.

The tragedy occurred on June 14, 2026, at a shop owned by the victim, 47-year-old Elizabeth Wambui, in the Delta area of Mwihoko Township. According to police reports, the couple became involved in a heated argument that quickly escalated into violence.

Investigators say Kibue allegedly attacked his wife with a spearhead, stabbing her on the right side of the chest. The injury caused severe bleeding, leaving Wambui critically wounded at the scene.

Police officers who responded to the distress call found the woman lying in a pool of blood. She was immediately rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. Her body was later moved to the university mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

After the suspect fled, detectives launched a manhunt and followed forensic clues that eventually led them to a hideout in Kayole. He was arrested and is currently in police custody awaiting processing and court appearance. Officers also recovered the bloodstained spearhead believed to have been used in the attack, which will serve as evidence in the Photo Coucase
