Kisii County Governor Simba Arati Addressing The Residents.

Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has launched the Kazi Mashinani Initiative, a new county programme aimed at creating employment opportunities for local residents while fast-tracking development projects across the county.

The initiative, unveiled on Wednesday during a public event in Kisii County, is expected to engage hundreds of youths and other residents in various public works, particularly road construction, maintenance, and environmental improvement projects.

Speaking at the launch, Governor Arati said the programme is designed to tackle unemployment by providing meaningful work opportunities while ensuring that development reaches every ward. He noted that many young people possess the energy and willingness to work but often lack employment opportunities, adding that the county government is determined to bridge that gap through labour-based projects.

The governor emphasized that the initiative will not only create jobs but also improve infrastructure by opening up roads, enhancing access to markets, schools, and health facilities, and making it easier for farmers to transport their produce. He said the county’s investment in road construction equipment will enable projects to be completed more efficiently and at a lower cost.

Arati called on residents to support the programme, saying development can only be achieved through a partnership between the government and the people. He urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity responsibly and contribute to transforming their communities while earning a livelihood.

The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to equitable development, assuring residents that the programme will be rolled out across all parts of the county to ensure every community benefits from improved infrastructure and employment opportunities.

Leaders and residents who attended the launch welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that it will help reduce youth unemployment while stimulating economic activity at the grassroots. They said improved roads and other public works are expected to enhance service delivery and spur growth in rural areas.

The Kazi Mashinani Initiative forms part of the Kisii County Government’s broader development agenda aimed at improving livelihoods through investment in infrastructure, job creation, and community-based development programmes.
