Families Return to Parliament to Honor Gen Z Protest Victims

Opposition leaders led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday joined parents and guardians of young Kenyans who lost their lives during the June 25, 2024 Gen Z protests in an emotional flower-laying ceremony outside Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.

The solemn event brought together grieving families, human rights activists, political leaders, and supporters who gathered to honor the memory of the victims killed during last year’s anti-Finance Bill demonstrations.

Carrying flowers and portraits of their departed loved ones, parents and guardians walked  side to side with the leaders despite police presence to Parliament where many of the protesters were fatally shot during the historic demonstrations that shook the country. Tears flowed freely as family members remembered the young lives cut short during the protests.

Speaking during the ceremony, Kalonzo Musyoka paid tribute to the victims, describing them as brave young Kenyans who stood up for what they believed in. He called for justice for all families who lost relatives during the demonstrations and urged authorities to ensure accountability for those responsible for the deaths.
