TIFA Poll: 62% of Kenyans Want Gachagua to Back Another Presidential Candidate

A new survey by TIFA Research indicates that 62 percent of Kenyans believe former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should support another presidential candidate rather than contest the presidency himself. The findings suggest that many respondents see greater chances for the opposition if it rallies behind a single candidate.
On the presidential preference ratings, President William Ruto leads the field with 24 percent support. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna follows with 15 percent, while former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i is close behind at 14 percent. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka attracts 13 percent support, with Rigathi Gachagua polling 7 percent.
The survey also measured the popularity of political movements, with Linda Mwananchi emerging as the more popular platform at 74 percent support. In comparison, Linda Ground registered 20 percent, highlighting a significant gap in public backing between the two initiatives.
TIFA noted that Kenya’s political landscape remains fluid ahead of the 2027 General Election, and public opinion could shift as political alliances evolve and campaigns gather momentum.
