The 2027 General Election in coming soon and the realignment of the political landscape in the larger Gusii region is going through a very significant change. Leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties are increasingly aligning themselves with different national political formations namely UDA of President William Ruto and Jubilee of Dr. Fred Matiang’I the son of the soil as they seek to strengthen their influence ahead of the polls. The region, traditionally has been dividing votes during key elections, is now being looked at whether they will vote in a bloc for their son who i seeking presidency.
The coming in of Dr. Matiang’I has led to increase movement in the grassroots mobilization in the region. President Ruto’s support in the Gusii is supported by the current Kisii county governor Hon.
