Defiant Linda Mwananchi Camp Flexes Political Muscle in Nyahururu

Leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi movement on Sunday attended a church service at AIPCA Nyahururu Church in Nyandarua County, despite earlier remarks by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua discouraging their presence in the region ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

The delegation was led by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata and included Obadiah Barongo, Antony Kibagendi, and several other political leaders.

Their appearance comes amid heightened political activity in Ol Kalou Constituency, where voters are preparing to elect a new Member of Parliament in a closely watched by-election.

The church service provided an opportunity for the leaders to worship alongside congregants, although their presence also underscored the growing political contest surrounding the upcoming vote.

In recent days, Rigathi Gachagua had publicly stated that the Linda Mwananchi team should keep away from Ol Kalou, saying their involvement was unnecessary during the campaign period. Sunday’s attendance at the church service appeared to contradict that appeal, highlighting the deepening political rivalry ahead of the by-election.

The Ol Kalou parliamentary contest has attracted leaders from different political camps, each seeking to influence voters in what is expected to be a significant political test.

So far, there have been no reports of disruptions during the church service, with the event proceeding peacefully as congregants gathered for worship.
