Eliud Owalo Unveils People’s Prosperity Party, Declares Bid for Kenya’s Presidency

Nairobi, Kenya – Former Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has officially unveiled the People’s Prosperity Party (PPP), popularly known by its slogan “Ustawi kwa Wote,” and declared his intention to contest the presidency in Kenya’s August 10, 2027 General Election.

Speaking during the launch at the party headquarters, Owalo said his administration would focus on creating equal opportunities for all Kenyans through economic empowerment, improved infrastructure, affordable healthcare, and quality education.

The presidential hopeful outlined his vision of building a nation founded on equality, transparency, and equity, saying these principles would guide every decision made under a PPP government.

Among his key pledges is reducing the highest tax rate from 35 per cent to 20 per cent to ease the burden on taxpayers and stimulate economic growth.

On the fight against corruption, Owalo described graft as “the elephant in the room” and vowed to take decisive action against those implicated in corruption. He pledged to reopen corruption cases dating back to 2010, promising that anyone found culpable would face the full force of the law.

Owalo also committed to strengthening social services by enhancing free primary education, introducing free day secondary education, and making healthcare in public hospitals free for all Kenyans. He further proposed establishing a universal medical scheme to ensure every citizen has access to quality healthcare.

To address unemployment, Owalo said his government would create jobs within villages and rural communities to discourage the migration of young people to urban centres in search of employment. He also promised to invest in identifying and nurturing young talent across the country.

The presidential aspirant emphasized that his administration would strictly adhere to the Constitution of Kenya, saying constitutionalism would form the foundation of governance under the People’s Prosperity Party.

Calling for a new political direction, Owalo distanced himself from the ongoing debate over one-term or two-term leadership, saying his focus is on delivering a fresh government that unites Kenyans beyond tribal, social, or economic divisions.

“We need a fresh start as a country. My vision is to build a Kenya where leadership is not defined by tribe or social status but by equal opportunities and shared prosperity for all,” Owalo said.

With the launch of the People’s Prosperity Party, Owalo becomes one of the latest leaders to officially declare interest in the 2027 presidential race, setting the stage for what is expected to be a highly competitive election.
