Jubilee Party To Seek Review Of Tribunal Ruling On Matiang’i, Kenta Leadership Dispute

The Jubilee Party has announced plans to challenge a ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) that upheld the appointments of several party officials while quashing the appointment of Mointalel ole Kenta as Secretary-General.

In a statement dated September 12, 2026, the party said the tribunal upheld the appointments of Dr. Fred Matiang’i, Vincent Kemosi, Jeremiah Kioni, Yassir Noor, Zack Kinuthia and Dann Mwangi as party officials.

However, the tribunal overturned Kenta’s appointment as Secretary-General.

Jubilee said it disagreed with the decision, arguing that the tribunal did not fully consider the facts and evidence presented before it.

The party maintained that its records, as confirmed by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties before changes effected on May 21, 2026, showed that Kenta was a duly registered Jubilee Party member as of December 24, 2025.

According to the party, Kenta was therefore a registered member when he was appointed Secretary-General on January 22, 2026.

Jubilee said it would consequently seek a review of the tribunal’s judgment and pursue all appropriate legal avenues available to it.

The party further reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law, the Constitution and democratic principles governing its affairs.

The ruling comes amid an ongoing leadership dispute within Jubilee Party, with the positions and roles of senior officials attracting legal and political contestation.
