Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has formally broken ranks with the Kenya Kwanza administration, announcing his alignment with the opposition under the People’s Party of Kenya.

Speaking at Safari Park Hotel on Monday night, Nyoro criticised the government over what he described as poor performance, corruption and the failure to adequately address some of the country’s most pressing challenges.

The Kiharu MP said Kenya was facing serious economic and governance challenges that required urgent and practical solutions, urging leaders to focus on issues affecting ordinary citizens rather than political rhetoric.

Nyoro also outlined a number of proposals he said could help tackle the country’s major problems, including economic hardships, unemployment, corruption and the rising cost of living.

His declaration marks a significant shift in his political position and is likely to attract attention as political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to take shape.

The event was attended by Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, among other political leaders and supporters.

Nyoro’s move further adds to the growing political activity within the opposition as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
