Azimio Unveils Fresh Resolutions as Kalonzo Musyoka Rallies Coalition for 2027

The Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition Party has adopted a fresh set of resolutions aimed at strengthening the opposition, defending constitutional democracy, and positioning itself ahead of the 2027 General Election.

During a meeting chaired by coalition leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Azimio leaders reaffirmed their commitment to remaining united despite recent political realignments. They pledged to work together in presenting what they described as a credible alternative government for Kenyans.

The coalition accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of undermining democratic institutions and resolved to intensify efforts to protect the Constitution, the independence of the Judiciary, and the rule of law. Leaders also voiced concern over alleged cases of police brutality, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings, calling for thorough investigations and accountability for those responsible.

On the economy, Azimio urged the government to take immediate measures to ease the burden of the high cost of living. The coalition called for the restoration of subsidies on essential commodities, including fuel, maize flour, and electricity, arguing that millions of households continue to struggle with rising prices.

The opposition further reiterated its support for fundamental freedoms, including freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and media independence, saying these rights must be protected at all times.

Looking ahead to the next General Election, the coalition resolved to push for electoral reforms that would enhance transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the electoral process. Leaders also committed to reorganizing and strengthening the coalition’s structures across the country to bolster grassroots mobilization.

Kalonzo Musyoka urged coalition members to remain focused and united, emphasizing that Azimio’s objective is to offer Kenyans a leadership agenda centered on constitutionalism, economic recovery, justice, and inclusive governance as the country moves closer to the 2027 polls.
