Three people narrowly escaped death after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control at the notorious Chebiemit Junction along the Iten–Kapsowar Highway.
The car reportedly veered off the road before crashing, leaving the occupants shaken but alive. The three escaped with injuries and were assisted by residents and other motorists who responded to the scene.
The latest accident has once again raised concerns over the safety of the junction, which locals describe as a black spot that has claimed numerous lives over the years.
Residents are now urging the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to urgently install safety barriers and implement other road safety measures to prevent vehicles from plunging off the road at the dangerous section.
They say repeated appeals for improvements have gone unanswered, despite the increasing number of crashes at the junction.
The incident has renewed calls for immediate intervention to protect motorists and pedestrians using the busy Iten–Kapsowar Highway.
