14 Suspects Arraigned Over Kisumu and Nyahururu Violence as Police Warn Against Further Unrest

The National Police Service (NPS) says 14 suspects arrested in connection with the recent violence and unrest in Kisumu and Nyahururu have been arraigned in court. In a statement issued on Monday, the police said the suspects appeared before court to face various charges linked to the disturbances that rocked the two towns on Sunday.

The NPS reiterated that it would not tolerate acts of violence, hooliganism, or any actions that threaten public peace and security. The service warned that individuals found engaging in criminal activities during protests or public gatherings would face legal consequences. Police maintained that they remain committed to enforcing the law while ensuring public safety, emphasizing that anyone who chooses to engage in violence will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The statement comes after days of heightened political tension and violent confrontations in parts of Kisumu and Nyahururu, where clashes led to the death of one person, destruction of property, injuries, and arrests. Security agencies have since intensified operations aimed at restoring order and identifying those responsible for the unrest.

The National Police Service also assured Kenyans, residents, and visitors that officers across the country continue to work around the clock to protect lives, businesses, and property. It urged members of the public to remain peaceful and cooperate with security agencies as investigations into the incidents continue.
