A 25-year-old woman is recovering at Kenyatta National Hospital after surviving a fall from the sixth floor of an apartment building in Thome Estate, Nairobi, in an incident that has prompted a manhunt for a senior police officer.
The woman, identified as Nicole Omondi, sustained severe spinal injuries and multiple fractures in the incident and is awaiting surgery. Reports indicate she has been left paralyzed from the waist down.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating allegations that Agnes Ndanu a police officer assaulted Nicole before she fell from the balcony. The officer is reportedly being sought by investigators.
According to preliminary police investigations, the incident followed a night out, during which an argument allegedly broke out after the officer accused Nicole of being unfaithful.
Investigators who reconstructed the scene reportedly found evidence suggesting the victim may have been repeatedly struck with a bottle inside the apartment before falling from the sixth-floor balcony. Forensic examinations and witness statements are expected to help establish the exact sequence of events.
Authorities have not released a comprehensive official statement on the case, and investigations remain ongoing. The suspect has not been convicted of any offence and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
