Murkomen Says Gachagua’s Actions Threaten National Unity

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of engaging in activities that threaten national security and national unity, warning that the government is closely monitoring his actions.
Speaking during a community empowerment event in Kaptarakwa, Keiyo South, organised by Elgeyo-Marakwet Woman Representative Caroline Ng’elechei, Murkomen alleged that Gachagua was financing violent groups and promoting divisive politics.
“You are collecting money through blackmail from potential DCP aspirants to finance goons. We know all your activities. You are also intimidating businesspeople to give you campaign money,” Murkomen said, in remarks apparently directed at the former Deputy President.
The Interior CS further claimed that Gachagua’s public statements and political conduct posed a threat to national security and cohesion.
Murkomen also issued a warning to politicians accused of using violence and intimidation to prevent their rivals from holding political meetings in areas they consider their strongholds.
He said security agencies would not tolerate politically instigated violence and pledged that anyone found sponsoring or participating in such acts would face the full force of the law.
The remarks come amid heightened political activity across the country as leaders intensify grassroots engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
