Religious leaders under the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) have appealed to Kenyans to maintain peace and avoid actions that could heighten tensions in the country.

Speaking during a live address attended by several clergy members and church leaders, the alliance emphasized the need for dialogue, restraint and national unity, urging citizens and political leaders to prioritize peace and coexistence.

The leaders warned against inflammatory rhetoric and called on all stakeholders to uphold the rule of law while addressing emerging challenges facing the country. They stressed that differences should be resolved through peaceful and constitutional means.

The appeal comes at a time when concerns over rising political temperatures and sporadic incidents of unrest have sparked calls for calm from various sectors. A few days ago goons hired by politicians attacked people in a church within Nairobi county, on Friday morning an alleged group put together by a politician attached a function that was put together by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and left people with injuries and burnt a bus.

The clergy also encouraged Kenyans to remain hopeful and work together to safeguard the country’s stability, saying peace remains a shared responsibility for all citizens.
