Officials inspecting the venue.

Preparations for this year’s World Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day celebrations have gathered momentum following an advance inspection of the venue that will host the national event on June 27, 2026.

Officials conducted a site visit to assess the readiness of the venue and identify any logistical requirements ahead of the celebrations, which are expected to bring together government leaders, entrepreneurs, development partners, youth groups and small business owners from across the country.

The 2026 World MSME Day celebrations will carry added significance as they will also serve as the national disbursement event for the second tranche of business start-up capital under the NYOTA Project. The initiative is designed to support young entrepreneurs and emerging businesses by providing financial assistance to help them establish and expand their enterprises.

During the inspection, the organizing team reviewed key areas including infrastructure, security arrangements, accessibility, exhibition spaces and facilities that will accommodate participants and exhibitors. The assessment is intended to ensure the event runs smoothly and provides a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services.

The upcoming celebrations are expected to highlight the critical role played by micro, small and medium enterprises in driving economic growth, creating employment opportunities and fostering innovation. MSMEs remain a key pillar of Kenya’s economy, contributing significantly to livelihoods and national development.

The NYOTA Project’s second-phase funding disbursement is anticipated to benefit numerous young entrepreneurs, providing them with the capital needed to transform business ideas into sustainable ventures. The initiative forms part of broader efforts aimed at empowering youth and strengthening enterprise development across the country.

As the countdown to June 27 continues, organizers have expressed confidence that the event will not only celebrate the achievements of MSMEs but also create new opportunities for entrepreneurs to access support, networks and resources needed for business growth.
