Traders, shop owners, and residents in Kisumu were affected after a major fire broke out in a busy commercial area of the city. The fire destroyed several business premises, reducing goods and property worth millions of shillings to ashes. Many traders lost stock that had taken years to build, leaving them uncertain about how they would restart their businesses.

The incident occurred during the night at 9 pm on Sunday night, catching many business owners away from their shops and unable to save their merchandise before the flames spread. The fire erupted in a trading section of Kisumu City, an area that serves hundreds of customers and business operators every day.

Although the exact cause of the fire had not been immediately established, traders and residents called for thorough investigations to determine what sparked the blaze and whether safety measures were adequate.Witnesses said the flames spread rapidly from one structure to another, fueled by closely packed stalls and flammable materials.

Firefighters responded to the emergency and worked for hours to contain the inferno, preventing it from reaching nearby buildings. By morning, traders were left counting losses while leaders and residents appealed for support to help the affected families and business owners recover from the disaster.
