Ecobank Kenya has appointed Risper Alaro to its Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director following approval by the Central Bank of Kenya, bringing more than 25 years of experience in finance, business transformation and organisational leadership to the lender.

The appointment was announced on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in a notice issued by Ecobank Kenya Limited.

Alaro currently serves as Group Finance Director at Centum Investment Company PLC, where she oversees financial leadership across the group’s diversified investment portfolio. Her responsibilities include supporting capital allocation decisions, improving business performance and promoting long-term value creation.

Before taking up her current position, Alaro established Centum Business Solutions Limited and served as its inaugural Managing Director. The company provided integrated financial management, taxation, human capital and technology services across the Centum Group.

Her work at the subsidiary supported the establishment and operationalisation of various businesses within the group while strengthening operational efficiency.

Alaro also brings extensive boardroom experience to her new role at Ecobank Kenya. She currently serves on the boards of Kenya Climate Ventures and the Nairobi Securities Exchange, having previously held board positions at Bank of Kigali and Population Services Kenya.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she is a Certified Professional Coach, a role through which she supports leadership development and institutional growth across East Africa.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Business Administration from the United States International University-Africa and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Moi University.

Alaro is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and a Fellow of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Africa Leadership Fellowship.

Ecobank Kenya said her experience would contribute to the board’s oversight responsibilities as the bank pursues its growth ambitions and strengthens its presence in the Kenyan market.

The appointment comes as the bank seeks to advance its strategic objectives, with Alaro expected to bring financial expertise, corporate governance experience and a broader perspective on business transformation to the board.
