Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Ombane Gisairo has escaped serious injury after his vehicle was involved in a road accident while he was travelling from his constituency to Nairobi.

Gisairo said the accident occurred after an Isuzu D-Max pickup, registration KDX 961T, allegedly rammed into his vehicle from behind.

The MP said the impact caused the pickup to lose control and roll onto the road shoulder, while his driver managed to safely bring their vehicle to a stop despite the car losing its rear-right tyre.

According to Gisairo, he and his team immediately assisted the two occupants of the pickup before they were taken away in a government vehicle, registration GKB 787J.

The MP raised questions over the manner in which the two occupants were removed from the scene, saying traffic police officers had already arrived and that proper procedures should have been followed.

Gisairo said the pickup is registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior, adding that he had reported the incident to the relevant authorities.

He said the Ministry of Interior had since identified the two occupants of the vehicle as well as the government officers who allegedly took them away from the scene.

The MP expressed confidence that investigations would establish what happened and that any officers found to have acted outside the law would face appropriate disciplinary action.

Gisairo said he and those accompanying him were safe, although they suffered muscle pulls from the impact.

He thanked his supporters for the messages of concern and reassurance following the incident, saying he appreciated the overwhelming response
