Evans Arama, popularly known as Arama wa Nairobi, has called on Gusii people living in Nairobi to unite and work together in support of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s presidential bid.

Arama made the remarks during the recent handover of the Jubilee Party leadership from former President Uhuru Kenyatta to Fred Matiang’i, where he urged the Gusii community in Nairobi to rally behind Matiang’i as he seeks the presidency.

He called for unity among Gusii residents in the capital, urging them to put aside their differences and work collectively as the country moves towards the 2027 General Election.

Arama also expressed his appreciation to Uhuru Kenyatta for his role in handing over the leadership of Jubilee to Matiang’i, saying the former President had played an important part in providing Matiang’i with a political platform.

He said the leadership transition marked an important moment for the party and Matiang’i’s political journey, while urging Gusii leaders and residents in Nairobi to remain organised and actively participate in the political process.

Arama further encouraged the community to maintain unity and support one another, arguing that a coordinated approach would strengthen their voice in national politics.

The remarks come at a time when political parties and leaders are positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Matiang’i emerging as one of the figures seeking to build a national political base.
