The Women in STEM Africa Summit 2026 concluded on Friday, September 4, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, with stakeholders calling for increased investment and support for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The two-day summit, organised by Women in Technology and Innovation Africa (WITIA) in partnership with UNESCO, brought together policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, educators and students under the theme “Discovering Talent. Driving Innovation. Shaping Africa’s Future.”

A major highlight of the final day was the Investor Pitch Arena, where nine innovators presented their solutions to investors and industry leaders.

Provision Sight Africa, founded by Victoria Mwaura, emerged the overall winner and received KSh500,000 in seed capital to support its artificial-intelligence-powered technology aimed at helping visually impaired people navigate independently.

The summit closed with calls for stronger partnerships, financing, mentorship and access to markets to help women innovators turn their ideas into sustainable businesses and solutions for Africa.

WITIA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women and girls through training, mentorship, internships, scholarships and other initiatives aimed at narrowing the gender and digital divide.
