Leaders of the united opposition coalition are continuing their tour of Western Kenya, drawing large crowds as they make stops in several counties across the region. The delegation includes former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, and former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi. The leaders are using the tour to engage residents on political, economic, and governance issues ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at various rallies, the opposition leaders have criticized the current state of the economy, saying many Kenyans are struggling with the high cost of living. They have pointed to rising prices of basic commodities, unemployment among the youth, and challenges facing small-scale traders as some of the issues that require urgent attention. The leaders have promised to continue listening to wananchi as they formulate their policy agenda.

Kalonzo Musyoka has urged residents to support efforts aimed at building a broad national movement capable of bringing together leaders from different regions of the country. They said national unity and inclusive leadership would be essential in addressing the challenges facing Kenyans and ensuring that development reaches all parts of the country.

Justin Muturi has focused their messages on governance, accountability, and the rule of law. The leaders told supporters that strong institutions and transparent leadership are critical for economic growth and public confidence. They called on citizens to remain actively involved in democratic processes and hold leaders accountable for their actions.

Meanwhile, Rigathi Gachagua and Eugene Wamalwa have continued to rally supporters behind the opposition coalition, emphasizing the importance of unity among leaders seeking political change. They have encouraged residents to register as voters and participate in shaping the country’s future through peaceful and democratic means.

As the Western Kenya tour progresses, political observers are closely monitoring its impact on the country’s political landscape. The ongoing meetings have attracted significant public interest and are expected to influence political discussions in the region in the months ahead. With the 2027 election drawing closer, both the opposition and government camps are expected to intensify their engagements with voters across the country.
