People’s Renaissance Party leader Caleb Amisi has dismissed the proposed Vision 2060 agenda as a mirage, accusing the government of setting unrealistic targets instead of addressing the challenges facing Kenyans.

Speaking to journalists at the party headquarters on Thursday, Amisi questioned why the government was pursuing what he described as unachievable goals while failing to fulfil commitments contained in its previous manifestos.

Amisi challenged the administration to focus on delivering on its existing promises rather than introducing new long-term development targets.

“Why can’t you fulfil the manifestos instead of chasing unachievable goals?” Amisi questioned, arguing that Kenyans need solutions to their immediate economic challenges.

Amisi further accused the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)-led government of using the Vision 2060 debate to escape scrutiny over what he termed the failure of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

He said the government should instead confront the realities facing Kenyans, including economic hardships and limited opportunities for young people, rather than shifting focus to distant development promises.

His remarks come amid renewed political debate over Kenya’s long-term development plans and the government’s record in implementing its economic agenda.
