Passengers aboard a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Cape Town are safe after the aircraft experienced a tyre burst shortly after landing on Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement, Kenya Airways said Flight KQ784, operating on its scheduled route from Nairobi to Cape Town, landed safely at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time before suffering a tyre burst upon touchdown.

The airline said the flight crew responded in line with established safety procedures, ensuring that all passengers and crew disembarked safely and were escorted to the airport terminal without injury.

Following the incident, Kenya Airways cancelled the return flight, KQ785, as engineers and technical personnel inspect and repair the aircraft.

The national carrier apologised to affected passengers for the disruption and thanked them for their patience and cooperation. It also commended the professionalism of its crew during the incident.

Kenya Airways reiterated that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority as investigations and repair work continue.
