IEBC Assures Kenyans Ol Kalou By-Election Will Proceed as Planned

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has affirmed that the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election will be held as scheduled, despite heightened political tensions that have characterized the campaign period.
Speaking ahead of the vote, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon said the commission has finalized the necessary preparations to conduct the election and is working closely with security agencies to ensure a peaceful polling process.
His remarks come after concerns over incidents of violence, voter intimidation and alleged electoral malpractices reported during campaigns in the constituency. The commission has maintained that every voter must be allowed to cast their ballot freely, without fear, coercion or interference.
Ethekon reiterated that the IEBC remains committed to delivering a credible, transparent and accountable electoral process. He warned that individuals or political actors found engaging in activities that violate electoral laws would face the consequences provided under the law.
The electoral body has also appealed to candidates, political parties and their supporters to uphold peace before, during and after the election, urging them to resolve disputes through lawful channels instead of violence.
As Ol Kalou residents prepare to head to the polls, the IEBC says all systems are in place for a smooth exercise, expressing confidence that the by-election will reflect the will of the people through a free and fair democratic process
