Nyamira County Expands Dialysis Services with 10 New Machines at Referral Hospital

Nyamira County has commissioned a new dialysis unit equipped with 10 dialysis machines at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital, significantly boosting access to specialized kidney care for residents.

The facility was officially launched by Governor Amos Nyaribo, who said the additional machines will increase the hospital’s dialysis capacity to at least 26 patients per day, helping reduce waiting times and improve access to life-saving treatment.

Speaking during the commissioning, the governor said the county government plans to procure 10 more dialysis machines in the current financial year to further strengthen renal care services.

He noted that the investment forms part of the county’s broader strategy to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery while expanding access to specialized medical services.

Governor Nyaribo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system from the grassroots, saying the county is steadily investing in modern medical infrastructure and equipment.

He also announced that plans are underway to establish a new renal unit at Masaba Sub-County Hospital in Keroka, with similar projects expected to be rolled out in other sub-counties as the county continues to decentralize specialized healthcare services.
