Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium Siaya

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya County is set for a major transformation after the launch of an ambitious expansion project that will increase its seating capacity from 5,500 to 20,000.

The ongoing Phase Two upgrade, jointly funded by the Siaya County Government and the National Government, is aimed at elevating the facility to modern standards required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), paving the way for the stadium to host top-tier competitions.

The expansion builds on the first phase, which delivered a modern football pitch, a tartan athletics track and VVIP sections. The current works will introduce additional terraces, improved spectator facilities and other key amenities designed to turn the venue into one of Kenya’s leading sporting arenas.

Leaders behind the project say the revamped stadium will not only provide a platform for nurturing local talent but also boost the county’s economy by attracting major sporting events and creating business opportunities for residents.

Once complete, the 20,000-seater facility is expected to cement Siaya’s place on the country’s sporting map and strengthen western Kenya’s growing reputation as a hub for football and athletics.
