Wiper Party Chairman Jamleck Kamau has rejected claims that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is considering a political deal with the Kenya Kwanza administration, insisting that the party remains committed to the united opposition.

Kamau, who spoke alongside former Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo, described reports linking Musyoka to the government as political propaganda, arguing that the claims were intended to weaken Wiper as opposition parties continue consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He said efforts to associate Musyoka with the government were part of attempts to undermine his position as discussions over opposition cooperation and leadership arrangements continue.

Kamau also addressed reports involving Parliamentary Service Commission Chairperson Johnstone Muthama, clarifying that he was personally involved in initiating discussions between Wiper and Muthama.

According to Kamau, the meetings were part of political consultations and did not involve attempts by Muthama to persuade Musyoka to join the government.

“I am the one who initiated the talks with Johnstone Muthama. At no time has he met our party leader to persuade him to join the government. We have met twice, once at a hotel in Nairobi and again at my home,” Kamau said.

The Wiper chairman further disclosed that the party was holding discussions with other politicians currently associated with the government, suggesting that some could eventually align with the opposition.

Former Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo said the immediate priority was to unite Kamba political leaders before extending the engagement to leaders from other communities and political formations.

He said bringing Kamba leaders together would form part of wider efforts to strengthen political cooperation within the opposition ahead of the 2027 polls.

Kamau maintained that Wiper has no plans to abandon the united opposition, saying the party is focused on building a broader political alliance ahead of the next General Election.

“We are in the united opposition to stay. We are focused on building a strong force to face President Ruto in the 2027 election,” Kamau said.
